But after this experience, we would much rather invest our hard-earned money into a cruise line that values passenger health, safety, and the overall experience. Venue hours, as listed in the daily program, were seldom accurate. Bars would open or close hours before or after the scheduled time. This inconsistency also extended to their private island, Ocean Cay.
From traditional cocktails, our signature cocktails to the contemporary classics, there is something to suit your taste. However, we were disappointed by the quality of the food in the assigned dining room. The dishes lacked the finesse and attention to detail that one would expect from a dedicated dining room experience. Instead, the taste and presentation resembled buffet offerings, which fell short of our expectations. Had we known in advance that the food would resemble buffet fare, we would have opted to dine at the buffet during a regular dinner hour, avoiding the drawbacks of the assigned dining time.
There is also bar service at the buffet if you are feeling thirsty. There’s plenty to eat on the island, and it’s included in your cruise fare. Beaches & SwimmingIf you come to Ocean Cay and don’t spend any time on the beach, then you may as well stay on the ship. Beaches are all around the island, including Lighthouse Bay that is right near the cruise ship.
Families will appreciate the indoor and outdoor pools, as well as the waterpark that's home to twisting slides and an intricate ropes course. There's also a full-sized bowling alley, Formula One Simulator, interactive XD simulator, and so much more. Since New York is a major transportation hub, with three airports within close proximity to the cruise terminal in Brooklyn, it's convenient for travelers coming from various locations.
